This hummus recipe is very easy to make at home in the blender, and requires only 7 ingredients. The sweetness of the honey balances out the bitterness of the tahini for the perfect flavour. Serve this with veggies, pita chips, or crackers as a snack. It is also great at school or work.
Better yet, this recipe can be made in under 10 minutes and all you have to clean after is the blender! Sounds like the perfect recipe to me.
I don’t have tahini, what else can I use for this hummus recipe?
If you don’t have tahini on hand, don’t worry. There are several other ingredients that can be used as a substitute. Tahini is is a smooth nutty paste, made from sesame seeds. In place of tahini try:
- almond butter
- sunflower butter
- peanut butter
- sesame oil (use sparingly as to not add too much liquid)
- chickpea flour
- sesame seeds
15 ounce can of chickpeas (drained, save the liquid and set aside)
1/4 cup tahini
1 tbsp Peace River Honey
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
1 small garlic clove
Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high until smooth.
Slowly add chickpea liquid (also known as aquafaba), until desired consistency is reached.
Serve with pita chips, veggies, or crackers. Enjoy!
