Enjoy this savoury Sweet and Spicy Nuts recipe with a glass of wine (or sparkling water!) while wrapping Christmas gifts this season. This recipe is sure to wow your guests when entertaining for the holidays. But with COVID, it doesn’t sound like any of us will be entertaining anytime soon. So try adding it to a “date night in” charcuterie board, or using it to top your salads for a nice crunch. These sweet and spicy nuts are also delicious just as a snack.
This recipe also makes the perfect gift. You can package it up in a nice jar with ribbon for a porch drop off to spread some holiday cheer this season.
Feel free to use different nuts in this recipe if you have an allergy or different preference. Sweet and Spicy Nuts would also be delicious with brazil nuts, peanuts, or walnuts. It is totally up to you!
The great thing about this recipe is how easy and quick it is to make. The longest part is the time it takes for the nuts to cool!
1 tbsp. butter
1/4 cup Peace River Honey
1/2 cup whole raw almonds
1/2 cup roasted raw cashews
1/2 cup raw pecan halves
1/4 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. red pepper chili flakes
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
Lay a 24 inch piece of parchment paper on your work surface.
In a medium frying pan, melt butter and Peace River Honey on medium-low heat until the mixture bubbles.
Add almonds, cashews, pecans, salt, cayenne pepper, and chili flakes to mixture. Stir for 3 minutes making sure the nuts are well coated.
Empty nuts onto parchment paper. Spread nuts evenly in a single layer.
Let cool completely.
You can serve these the same day, or else store them in the freezer until you are ready to enjoy.
